Respite Care Provider Grants
Respite Care is temporary short-term relief for family caregivers of individuals with special needs. The primary purpose of respite care is to give relief to family caregivers from the extraordinary and intensive demands of providing ongoing care in the home. Alabama Lifespan Respite (ALR) is looking to fund direct respite care hours to underserved populations. The Respite Care Program Grants will be available once a year to increase direct respite care services to existing and start-up community programs that provide services to underserved populations. Priority is given to programs serving rural communities, Hispanic/Latino and/or African American families, and children at risk for abuse and neglect. Other populations will be considered as well. A program is eligible to apply for this grant if they will be providing direct respite care as of April 1, 2025. ALR is able to offer these grant funds through the Federal Lifespan Respite Grant programin partnership with the Alabama Department of Senior Services.
